Psychosynthesis
Psychosynthesis, created by Roberto Assagioli, is above all a psychology of hope that has an optimistic vision of human nature that recognises the human spirits capacity for healing and regeneration.
Central to Psychosynthesis therapy is the belief that no matter what your issues, problems, behaviour and pathologies you are at core a valuable, worthwhile human being. Above all you are more than your difficulties and issues.
Psychosynthesis values our dark times as much as periods of joy as it believes that it is through our suffering that we reach inside ourselves, thus offering the opportunity for personal discovery, growth, meaning and transformation.
Psychosynthesis techniques
Essentially individual counselling and psychotherapy involves a one to one conversation between the therapist and client in which the therapist facilitates the client to open up and explore their issues and challenges in a safe and empathic environment.
There are numerous techniques that can be used to aid this process and as I am trained in a diverse range of techniques including: –
• Active dialogue & analysis
• Gestalt therapy
• Mindfulness stress reduction
• Meditation
• Guided imagery & visualisation
• Dream work
• Art therapy
• Imagery & symbols
• Neuro linguistic programming (NLP)
• Gestalt
• Breathing exercises
Together we will work out an individual plan that is unique to you using the techniques that you are comfortable with and that work best for you.
How Psychosynthesis could help
“You cant stop the waves but you can learn to surf” – Jon Zabatt-Zinn
Our natural capacity for growth for change lies deep within and is allowed through our own inner wisdom to surface at a steady pace set by the client in line with their own beliefs and values.
Psychosynthesis addresses all parts of our being which enables us to work through self-destructive behaviors and patterns and conflicts that hinder our growth. The therapy is particularly beneficial for people suffering with low self-esteem, anxiety and depression, stress, trauma, PSTD, bereavement, addiction, panic attacks and relationship problems. Counselling is recommended by the National Institute for Clinical excellence (NICE) as a treatment for depression and anxiety.
In addition benefits of Psychosynthesis therapy include: –
• Offers insight into how problems can be a catalyst for change and growth
• Helps individuals discover meaning and purpose in life
• Provides a toolbox for coping and life skills for further development beyond therapy
• Promotes healing from early childhood abuse or trauma
• Increases self esteem, self worth and self confidence
• Helps people to become more intuitive and creative
